Let The Children Play Auxiliary

Main funding purpose: Play therapy support and equipment

The story so far

In 2005, when Natasha Panasewycz was a nursing student at the RCH, she decided that she wanted to do something to help the hospital. After consultation with her supervisor, Natasha set up the Let the Children Play Auxiliary with fellow student nurses, which supports the RCH Play Therapy Department. Play Therapy was chosen as it was a part of the hospital that benefited nearly every patient that came through its doors. Natasha’s mother, Rosalie, was also a passionate supporter, taking on the role of President for 20 years until she retired.

When the Auxiliary was first established there were only two play therapists at the RCH and limited resources. A computer CD-ROM was the first piece of equipment purchased and now the Auxiliary is funding iPads.

Let the Children Play Auxiliary was a big seller of Auxiliary Tote Bags at such locations as Yering Station’s Farmers Market and the Tesselaar family’s Tulip Festival at Silvan. The Auxiliary also held Social Club Book stalls and numerous stalls at the RCH.
