Kristy’s Christmas cheer

Thank you so much for your support of The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) Foundation in 2018!  Together we raised more than $80,000 to support seriously ill children like Kristy at Christmas.

Kristy was just five-years-old when she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive cancer that had life-changing implications for her whole family. Shortly after Kristy’s diagnosis, the Tasmanian family of five uprooted their lives to relocate to Melbourne so that Kristy could undergo 18 months of intense treatment at the RCH. It’s thanks to your generous support of the RCH that Kristy is now in remission, and the family were able to spend this Christmas back home in Tasmania, surrounded by family and friends.

Your donations over the past year have helped many other patients just like Kristy, through providing essential funding for vital initiatives like:

  • providing music therapy to patients undergoing cancer treatment, easing their anxiety and discomfort throughout the most critical part of their hospital journey
  • developing a comprehensive cancer tissue bank to better diagnose and treat patients, and contribute to global care
  • supporting the next generation of leaders while attracting the best medical minds by providing scholarship and fellowship positions

These life changing programs and initiatives simply would not exist without the generous support of people like you.

Thank you for giving to our great hospital. You truly are changing the lives of children and their families.
