Celebrating 100 years in 2022
The RCH is supported by a vibrant and dedicated network of Auxiliaries. Made up of 48 Auxiliary groups and over 450 members from across Victoria, the RCH Auxiliaries are a fundraising force to be reckoned with. In 2022, the RCH Auxiliaries celebrate 100 years of supporting the hospital, making them the longest philanthropic supporter of the RCH.
Governed by the Auxiliaries Executive Committee the RCH Auxiliaries have been raising funds for the hospital since 1922 under the mission: “One team working towards one goal – making sick kids better,” and since their establishment have raised over $44.5 million and have supported countless life-changing projects at the RCH.
The RCH Auxiliaries raise funds in a myriad ways for many special causes. The funds raised go to a variety of projects and initiatives in line with Auxiliary’s personal connections to the RCH and the hospital’s priorities in the areas of research, leadership and training, equipment and technology and patient and family centred care.

Celebrating 100 years of the RCH Auxiliaries
In 2022, the RCH Auxiliaries celebrate 100 years of supporting the hospital. The RCH Auxiliaries were first established in 1922 by Miss Mary Guthrie to fundraise for, and supply articles to the hospital. By the end of 1922, there were 10 Auxiliary groups.
Now, 100 years later, there are 48 active Auxiliary groups and over 450 members.
From the early days of making garments for patients and doctors and establishing the first hospital canteen, the Auxiliaries have grown into a vibrant and passionate network, raising millions of dollars and supporting countless life-changing projects at the RCH.Learn More
