Footscray/Yarraville Juniors Auxiliary

Main funding purpose: Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

The story so far

Footscray/Yarraville Juniors Auxiliary was founded in 1960. Some of the members’ mothers had enjoyed being members of the Footscray/Yarraville Auxiliary for many years and their daughters thought it would be wonderful to support the RCH as their mothers had done.

Over the years the Auxiliary has held hundreds of fundraising events, including luncheons, art exhibitions, auctions, fancy dress parties, progressive dinners and even a baby show. Their longest running fundraiser has been the Easter stall in the hospital foyer, where grandchildren of members help out selling hot cross buns and chocolate eggs.

The Auxiliary has also produced a Madge Tate Service Award winner, Shirley Jenkins and five Living Treasures. Five of the early members also recently received their 60-year service badges. Footscray/Yarraville Juniors contribute the funds raised to the acquisition of equipment, including the Satellite Pharmacy project and the purchase of an infant warmer for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

2022/2023 Auxiliary Report

After 63 years our Auxiliary is unfortunately unable to hold fundraising events due to the illness of many members and age implications. However, those of us who are able still meet monthly for a brief lunch and have a craft table with goodies, therefore raising some funds – albeit much reduced from our previous donations.
