Knox-Sherbrooke Auxiliary

Raising funds for wish list items, giving the RCH Foundation the ability to respond to the most pressing needs of the hospital.

Area: Eastern suburbs

The story so far

The Knox-Sherbrooke Auxiliary was formed in 1977. The founder had a particularly close relationship with the RCH, having a son who benefited from its world-class facilities and staff, spending many months in intensive care as a result of falling from a roof. Many people responded to an ad placed in the local paper, and soon membership of the new auxiliary grew to eleven. Over the years membership has continued to grow, with some 28 members in 2008 as well as many more contributors and supporters. Members reside in the Knox area, comprising of the suburbs of Boronia, Ferntree Gully, Bayswater, Wantirna, as well as Belgrave and the Dandenongs.

What we are working on

Fundraising is achieved primarily through: the numerous social activities held during the year, including day trips, craft demonstrations and fashion parades, theatre nights and morning teas and lunches; proceeds from our craft and bric-a-brac stalls held in the hospital foyer; bookstalls; and raffles. We are proud to have funded much-needed medical equipment over the years including intensive care cots, x-ray machines and monitors. We welcome new members to join the auxiliary. Please contact the RCH Foundation for more details.
