Viva Royal Children’s Hospital (Viva RCH) Auxiliary

Main funding purpose: Pain management and area of greatest need

The story so far

The Viva RCH Auxiliary has been having fun whilst FUNdraisin’ for the RCH since 2002. Viva is a group of young professionals whose primary objective is to contribute to the development of pain management programs that help children and adolescents living with acute and chronic pain from serious injuries, long term and life threatening illnesses.

The Auxiliary holds regular fundraising events including race day events, drinks, polo functions and fashion events to raise funds. Viva was the first charity partner for the Albert Park Polo and St Kilda Beach Polo events and is still fundraising via Victorian Polo, with a Viva named polo team since 2018.

The Auxiliary has also had substantial corporate support. Their Tiffany blue logo came from initial corporate partner, Tiffany&Co. Other key support has come from Wilson HTM, BMW, NGV and the Victoria Racing Club to name a few.

The Viva team has supported many pilot programs at the RCH, including the Beaded Journey which was implemented across other hospitals. For children undergoing cancer treatment, the Beaded Journey allows children to chronicle each milestone and significant procedure throughout their treatment with a different coloured and themed bead.
