Wangaratta Auxiliary

Main funding purpose: Area of greatest need

The story so far

The Wangaratta Auxiliary was founded in 1977 by three friends. One of the founding members, Vilma Clark, had been involved with the RCH before moving to Wangaratta and wanted to continue supporting the hospital after her move. So, Vilma, together with friends Pat Griffin and Dawn Anderson, formed the Wangaratta Auxiliary.

Aside from raising funds, a Christmas social event for members and their husbands has been held each year. Members also enjoyed twice yearly visits to the pokies.

Funds raised by the Auxiliary have supported Treatment Chairs in Day Medical and Day Cancer Units and an Early Learning Mosaic Mural.

2022/2023 Auxiliary Report

The Wangaratta Auxiliary has nine active members with big hearts. They cook, knit, sew and also make lots of lamingtons which are very popular with everyone. We have lots of friends that are only too happy to help us with our fundraising efforts. Our lamington drives turn into a social event with lots of laughs and chatting while we dip and roll the coconut. We also have our own high tea with special goodies to add to the day. We continue with our street stalls and raffles where we find everyone very generous. We have formed lovely friendships within our Auxiliary and we try to get down to Melbourne for events where we can mingle with other Auxiliary members. This year we raised $4,062.
