Celebrating our Living Treasures

It is our honour to celebrate our wonderful Auxiliaries Living Treasures. Usually, we would be gathering in person to celebrate these special Auxiliary members and their outstanding commitment to supporting the RCH. Sadly, this is not possible this year, so instead we hope you will join us to celebrate virtually.

Our Living Treasures will be receiving a small token of our gratitude in the mail and together with Sue Hunt, Chief Executive Officer I would like to share a message of thanks with you all.

Message from Sue Hunt

Hello everyone in the Auxiliaries network,

I’m so sorry we can’t meet together today to celebrate the new Living Treasures for 2020.

But this terrible pandemic has got us all locked away safely at home.

Here I am in Phillip Island and I just wanted to send a short message of thanks and appreciation to you all.

Living Treasures was established to thank and show the recognition for all the hard work you do over the years, and every single one of you make an enormous contribution. We recognise that, we celebrate that and hopefully one day soon we’ll be able to celebrate together again.

Thank you for all that you’ve done to keep sick kids better

Thank you for all that you’ve done for The Royal Children’s Hospital, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Message from Mim

Good morning Living Treasures. I hope that you and your loved ones are staying safe and well.

Usually at this time of the year we come together to celebrate our past and present Living Treasures at a morning tea. But as you know coming together right now is sadly just not possible.

But the Living Treasures morning tea is such an important part of our calendar that we couldn’t let this moment go past without some form of recognition.

So I wanted to congratulate each and every one of you for everything that you do for our beloved children’s hospital. I was also once again really humbled by reading all the nominations for this year’s Living Treasures. I was impressed by the large activities that you each engage with.

So I thought that it was important that we stop and pause for a moment to reflect on your dedication to the children’s hospital, all your very hard work and very often behind the scenes and your enduring commitment in making sick kids better. You should all be really, really proud.

I thought I’d also take a moment today to thank Barb Nicoll, who in the past has led the AEC Team in organising the Living Treasures Morning Tea. I trust that in the future we will be able to do that again and look forward to coming together next year.

In the meantime, because we are not able to meet this year, we thought that we would send you a token of our appreciation in the mail. That should be arriving in the next week or so.

In addition, our 2020 Living Treasures will be receiving their badges and certificates in the same parcel.

So until we can see each other again, I hope that you all stay safe, stay well and if there is anything that Laura and I can do to be of support to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Look after yourselves and look after each other, take care for now. Bye.
